Bennett Juniper Tree

Road to Bennett Tree
  first glimpse

This is the road that leads to the Bennett Juniper Tree. The tree is just a short distance from this point.

It was the middle of July and the Mule's Ears and Lupine were in full bloom. If one looked closely, there were also some Mariposa Lilies around the hillside.

To help protect the root system of the tree, an area of about 20 feet is roped off. Notice the base of the tree...it looks like giant claws digging into the soil.

In order to get a full length picture of the Juniper, I walked up the hill about 50 feet or so. The area where the bark is stripped happened when one of the huge branches fell from the tree.
